As excitement builds around space exploration and virtual realities, Project Earth seeks to ground us in building a sustainable planet.

What would it look like if you were to build a roadmap to a sustainable world?

Scientists believe we will avoid the worst effects of climate change by zeroing out greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from human activity before 2050. Our actions add about 51 billion tons of GHGs per year.

Project Earth will demystify the roadmap to achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 through examining:

  1. The sources of emissions

  2. What must be true to achieve net-zero

  3. Solutions

  4. Implementation

To do so, we dive deep into the sources of emissions by activity.

How Much Greenhouse Gas is Emitted by the Things We Do?

Source: Breakthrough Energy.
  1. Making Things: Emissions from manufacturing goods and materials, including concrete, steel, and plastics.

  1. Plugging In: Emissions from generating electricity.

  1. Growing Things: Emissions from agriculture and food waste.

  1. Getting Around: Emissions from transportation by cars, planes, and ships.

  1. Keeping Warm & Cool: Emissions from heating and cooling our buildings.
